Military bands from Hungary, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, and, of course, the Czech Republic will give exhibition performances in late August in the center of Olomouc. The International Military Band Festival invites you to its 29th edition, which will take place from August 27 to 29 at Horní náměstí. An accompanying program is also being planned.
The end of August in Olomouc will be marked by the 29th annual International Military Band Festival. This year’s program will last three days and will begin on Thursday, August 27, with a concert at St. Maurice Church. On Friday, August 28, starting at 4:00 p.m., the group AC/BC—composed of musicians from the Olomouc Military Band and a Croatian orchestra—will perform on Olomouc’s Upper Square. The traditional evening concert by the Olomouc Military Band will begin at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, August 29, the musical program on the square will continue starting at 9:00 a.m. with performances by foreign orchestras from Hungary, Bulgaria, and Poland. Starting at 2:00 p.m., individual military bands will present their own shows, culminating in a joint concert. As part of Saturday’s afternoon program, a surprise is also in store for the audience in the form of exhibition performances by soldiers from Croatia and the Czech Republic.
An accompanying program will also be available, featuring, for example, the Czech Army’s Honor Guard showcasing its equipment, uniforms, and weapons and there will also be a demonstration of military equipment used by ground forces units.
