Easter eggs, Easter eggs, concerts and good food. The centre of Olomouc will be enlivened by the Easter Fair. From Friday 31 March to Easter Monday 10 April, visitors can look forward to a musical programme, regional vendors, farm products and the popular Olomouc barbecue. There will also be craft stalls on the square with hand-painted Easter eggs, ceramics, wicker and wooden goods.
Easter also includes traditional Czech decorations. “The upper square will be dressed up for Easter, the central area between the stalls will have Easter decorations in the form of pomlázek and an Easter wreath, and around the stage there will be modern versions of painted oversized Easter eggs,” says Monika Řehulková, spokesperson for the organiser, Kulturní Olomouc o.p.s. The Easter Fair, which will be spread over eleven days, will also include an interesting musical programme.
“We want to support cultural events in the city, not only during the free Easter days. Therefore, the programme in the Upper Square will start on the first weekend in April, when two live concerts will take place. I believe that together with the organiser, who has proven himself in previous years, we have prepared an offer that will make the celebration of the arrival of spring more pleasant for people,” said Deputy Mayor Viktor Tichák.
“On Good Friday, the band Fleret will perform from 5 pm, which is probably the biggest draw of this year’s programme. But the other performances are not to be missed either. Visitors can look forward to the Olomouc group Tak co? or the theatrical performance of the stilt walkers eMillion,” adds Monika Rehulková. For children, the organiser has prepared, in cooperation with the non-profit organisation YMCA, children’s workshops, which will be open in the morning for schools by appointment, and in the afternoon, children will be able to make spring brooches, weave a pomlázka or paint their own Easter eggs.
The Easter Fair takes place from 31 March to Easter Monday 10 April in the Upper Square area in front of the entrance to the Town Hall.
