The center of Olomouc will come alive with Easter celebrations

This year’s traditional Easter market will feature some thirty stalls where you can purchase a wide variety of handmade items with spring and Easter themes. There will also be vendors selling regional products and refreshments. Children can enjoy themselves in a workshop where they can make a pretty decoration or a mug, or try out various techniques for painting Easter eggs. Adults, meanwhile, can look forward to a musical program on stage, featuring performances by folk and choral groups, the Hejčíňan cimbalom band, and the bands LIHUS, VoxBox, Bluesberg, Kate&Gentleman, Isbina, and FanTajm. An open-air church service is also planned for Easter Sunday, along with Uncle Líček’s Sing-Alongs for children.

Take a city tour this Easter

From Friday, April 3, through Sunday, April 5, you can combine your visit to Olomouc during Easter with a climb up the Town Hall tower or a tour of the Komenium Ceremonial Hall, which is truly a hidden gem of Olomouc and is nicknamed the “Olomouc Sistine Chapel” thanks to its unique decorations. Tower tours take place at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, and the price is 50 CZK. A guide will take you through the Komenium Ceremonial Hall at 2 p.m. daily for 80 CZK. Tours begin at the Olomouc Information Center in the town hall arcade, and you can reserve your spot here. From Thursday, April 2, through Sunday, April 5, you can also take tours of the so-called jewel of Olomouc Art Nouveau—Villa Primavesi. Admission is 170 CZK, and you can reserve your spot here.

Schools and preschools will help decorate the square

The popular photo spot shaped like a wicker egg, the Easter installation on the lawn, and the decorations created by children from Olomouc’s elementary schools have already become almost a traditional part of the Easter decorations on Upper Square. This year will be no different. The arcade in front of City Hall will be adorned with willow branches decorated with spring and Easter motifs created by children. The square will be filled with seven-meter-tall Easter eggs, which will be decorated by students from Olomouc elementary schools.
