Exposure of the astronomical clock
The first exposition dedicated to the Olomouc astronomical clock focuses on the six-hundred-year history of this unique time machine. Visitors are introduced to the astronomical clock both in terms of its interesting iconography and artistic and craft workmanship, and as a significant astronomical work of the time. The appearance of the Olomouc astronomical clock is presented to visitors in various stages of its development and supplemented with original objects from the older machine, which thus symbolically return to the premises for which they were originally intended. The exhibition is located on the 2nd floor of the Town Hall (east wing).
History of the Olomouc Town Hall
The second exhibition maps the history of the Olomouc Town Hall from its construction to the present day. The Town Hall is today the most significant monument of Olomouc’s secular architecture, which still serves its original purpose after six centuries. It is still the seat of the elected municipal government and its office. The exhibition is on display on the 1st floor of the Town Hall opposite the Mayor’s office (east wing).
Olomouc in the Changes of Centuries
The latest exposition entitled “Olomouc in the Changes of Centuries” is dedicated to the history of Olomouc. Its core consists of faithful copies of historical documents, which are on display in the showcases on the first floor in the Gothic corridor along the ceremonial hall (north wing). The documents are supplemented by text and picture panels, which further illustrate the development of Olomouc.
The exhibitions are freely accessible to the public during office hours of the City Hall or as part of the Olomouc in a Nutshell tour.
