Basic information
Originally, only a fort stood here, which was rebuilt into a chateau in the years 1839–1846. The Sylva-Taroucc family played the most significant role in the chateau’s and town’s history. Under their patronage, a quite unique, 21-hectare park with rare woods from all over the world and many small buildings were established around the chateau. The famous Czech painter Josef Mánes was a frequent guest of this house. His paintings are on display in the Mánes Hall, where you can also see the original three hundred years old parquet floor.
