Merchant's House “The Red Bullock”

Dolní náměstí 39, 779 00, Olomouc

Basic information

An attached house of three storeys stands on medieval substructures. Vaults have been preserved on the whole ground floor area – at the back part they are in the Renaissance and Classicistic style, while those of the Baroque style in the entrance hall, called masshaus, probably date from the time after the fire in 1709. The frontage has a neo-Renaissance design from the ’eighties of the 19th century. As early as in 1630 the house was called “At the Red Bullock” and since long ago there has been a well-known coaching inn of Olomouc, a tavern, there, which since 1997 has been a restaurant, called after the sign – a suspended sculpture of a red bullock’s head above the entrance.
