Basic information
Founded in Olomouc by František Čech in 1920, Kasperle’s land is an amateur puppet theater with a tradition of more than 100 years.
The troupe of Olomouc puppeteers has performed in the Slovanský dům for 40 years. For a third generation of children already, they provide an encounter with theatre, poetry, beauty, and the triumphant victory of good over evil. They produce the puppets themselves as well as edit and write their own scripts.
The major productions in recent years include Bajaja, Zlatovláska, Tři zlaté vlasy děda Vševěda, Mowgli, Cinderella, Broučci, Ostrov splněných přání – the repertoire tends mostly to classic fairy tales. Old marionette plays are also staged such as The Doctor Faustus, or the hand puppet performance „Kasper builds a house“. Currently, a new performance called “Fairy tale about a Water Goblin” is being presented.
