Basic information
The cave, discovered in 1938, is decorated with the most elaborate cave formations in the country. The tour route leads through rough terrain and takes 40 minutes.
The underground system of the Javoříčko caves consists of a complex set of passages, caves and sinkholes created by the Špraněk stream inside a Devonian limestone bedrock.
Up to this day over 3.5 km of passages have been discovered, of which 788 meters are open to the public. The cave has splendid cave formations, the most beautiful ones are to be found in two mighty spaces – the „Debris chamber“ and the „Chamber of Giants“. Besides the most common types of stalactites and stalagmites there is a rich occurrence of helictites here, which are formations that grow against the law of gravity. A „curtain“- a more than 2 meters high, thin, wavy sheet of calcite hanging downward, is one of the landmarks of the cave.
