Enjoy the colourful autumn in Olomouc

Enjoy the colourful autumn in Olomouc

Odvezte si z návštěvy Olomouce nějaký originální kousek z Olomouc Design Days, a pokud vyhledáváte spíš zážitky gastronomické, tak i ty vám u nás můžeme zaručit!

Monuments as you don’t know them

It has been a tradition for a few years now that during the autumn stage of the Flora Olomouc – Hortikomplex flower exhibitions, selected Olomouc monuments regularly bloom. This year you can enjoy this unusual and beautiful spectacle from 3 to 13 October. This time, the interior of the Red Church next to the Scientific Library in Olomouc, the Huss Choir and the Chapel of St. Jan Sarkander will be decorated in autumn colours. In addition, guided tours with the authors of the floral decorations are planned for selected dates at all locations.

When the churches ring

Churches and temples are usually places of silence and peace. In Olomouc, however, once in a while they turn into concert halls and resound in such a way that it makes you stop and listen in amazement, even if you are just passing by. Olomouc is a city with a rich spiritual and musical tradition, which is why the Autumn Festival of Sacred Music has been held here for thirty-one years. This year, from 17 September to 19 October, you can listen to the melodies of important Czech and foreign composers at eight different locations in the city. Among others, in the Church of St. Moritz, the Archbishop’s Palace or St. Wenceslas Cathedral.

Design in all forms

The second largest conservation area in the Czech Republic as a venue for lectures and discussions on modern design? Don’t the two go together? But you know it does! The whole month of November will belong to Olomouc Design Days. After last year’s successful first edition, various workshops, seminars, lectures, exhibitions and other interesting programmes are again planned. The first weekend in November will be the most busy, when the Flora Olomouc Exhibition Centre will host the Maker Faire, a global showcase of creativity, or the opening of the Harvest 2024 exhibition at Studio G21, which will showcase the work of local designers. The end of Olomouc Design Days will again belong to the Design Fair, which traditionally presents several dozen vendors offering original original fashion, cosmetics, home decoration and much more.

Gastronomic experiences in a baroque setting

In Olomouc, we definitely like good food! What’s more, we serve it in the backdrop of baroque monuments with a wonderful atmosphere. Enjoy the best gastronomic experiences in the buildings of the former Olomouc fortress, the Baroque Jesuit Convent, the unique Art Nouveau villa and many other places in the city. The new Olomouc full of flavours and aromas tourist guide will tell you where to go for lunch, coffee and a romantic dinner. You can pick it up at the Olomouc Information Centre in the arcade of the town hall. And if you like gastronomic festivals in the open air, you can also experience them in Olomouc in autumn. On 4 and 5 October, there will be wine festivals in the Lower Square, and on 11 November, we will again open this year’s St Martin’s Day wines in the city centre and celebrate St Martin’s Day.

Romantic streets and colourful parks

Do you love warm autumn and Indian summer? We do! Mainly because of the walks in Olomouc’s parks and alleys. Čechovy, Smetana and Bezručovy sady, which surround Olomouc, are beautiful in every season, but when the rays of the autumn sun shine through the orange-yellow leaves, it is incredibly beautiful. Come and see for yourself. You can walk the side paths of the parks for days and still discover new places and sights that will take your breath away again and again. And what about when the autumn sun shines on the historic streets of the city. The atmosphere of yesteryear will instantly return, and you’ll be so engrossed in them that you’ll find it hard to leave.
