If you are a cycling enthusiast, Olomouc should definitely not be missing on your list of places to visit. This historic city in the heart of the Haná region offers not only beautiful sights, but also a dense network of cycle paths that will take you to a picturesque landscape full of natural beauty and cultural attractions.
Directly from the city centre you can go, for example, along the Moravian Trail, which follows the course of the Morava River and leads to Kroměříž or, conversely, northwards to Litovelské Pomoraví. This protected nature park offers a flat route suitable for families with children. On the way you can visit the Lusatian meadows, watch herons, storks or even beavers. Another great destination is Sluňákov – a centre of ecological activities, where children in particular will enjoy the fun nature trail.
Another popular route is the cycle path from Olomouc to Náměšt’ na Hané, which takes you into a gently undulating landscape with views of the Haná fields. At the end you will be rewarded with a beautiful castle with Empire decorations and the possibility of a picnic in the castle park.
More advanced cyclists will appreciate the climb up to Svatý Kopeček. After a slightly more demanding climb, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of Olomouc and its surroundings. We definitely recommend a visit to Svatý Kopeček with a walk through the local zoo. Especially if you go with children.

Cycling up the hills even without physical fitness – thanks to the cyclobus
Since this July, a new cyclobus has been in operation, which runs every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays until the end of September. It departs every time at 8 o’clock from Olomouc / stop Tržnice plocha and goes through Prostějov, Plumlov, Ptení to Konice. At each stop it is possible to get off and go on a bike trip according to your own taste or current condition. And when you run out of energy, just hop back on the connection. The capacity of the bike trailer is 20 bikes, so it is recommended to reserve a seat in advance in the carrier’s system. The flat fee for transporting a bike is 20 crowns. Transportation is also possible for electric bicycles.
