What are the most important sights in the centre of Olomouc? Why is there a black horse jumping out of a house on Dolní náměstí? And what happened to the Olomouc synagogue? Not only that, but also the traditional guided tours prepared by the Olomouc Information Centre for this summer season will tell you. Among the regular tours, there will be one novelty this year.
The Olomouc Information Centre offers sightseeing tours, where a guide will introduce the history of our beautiful city, throughout the summer holidays. The traditional tours include Olomouc in a Nutshell or a tour called Behind the City Gates. During the summer holidays, the guide will also take you to the 75-metre high tower of the Olomouc Town Hall, from which you can see the whole city as if it were in the palm of your hand. On selected dates, you can even take a guided tour of some of Olomouc’s churches for free. This service is available, for example, at St. Wenceslas Cathedral, the Church of Our Lady of the Snows, the Red Church, the Huss Choir and also at the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary on Svatý Kopeček.
Every Friday in July and August this year, a premiere guided tour called In the Footsteps of Baroque in Olomouc is prepared. The Information Centre added it to the list of tours on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the inscription of the Column of Honour of the Holy Trinity on the UNESCO World Heritage List. “The tour commemorates the importance of the Holy Trinity Column for the city and also introduces visitors to other important Baroque monuments in Olomouc. They will get to know the beautiful churches and chapels and discover the stories of Olomouc’s statues and fountains,” invited Miloslava Šinclová from the Tourism and Information Centre of the Olomouc City Hall. She added that during this guided tour, the Chapel of the Corpus Christi at Konvikt, the Chapel of St. John Sarkander and even the rare organ in the Church of Our Lady of the Snows are exceptionally accessible.
You can book your place online at vstupenky.olomouc.eu or in person at the Olomouc Information Centre in the arcade of the town hall.
