Advent and New Year’s Eve tours of the Archbishop’s Palace will take you through the history of Advent and Christmas celebrations during the reigns of Maria Theresa, Franz Joseph I, and other figures associated with the palace’s history. During the tour, you will learn what gifts the children of the imperial family found under the Christmas tree, what wishes of Empress Sisi literally shocked her husband, and what course of the festive table the emperor looked forward to the most. The guide will also reveal how the archbishops of Olomouc spent Christmas Eve, who gave gifts to Maria Theresa, and what mysterious creatures watched over the observance of Advent traditions. At the end of the tour, you can also see an exhibition of historical nativity scenes and Rorate candles.
