Olomouc and its partners abroad
The city of Olomouc has eight twin towns in Europe and overseas and develops successful cooperation with them in many different forms. They are the following sister cities: Antony (France), Luzern (Switzerland), Nördlingen (Germany), Owensboro (USA), Pécs (Hungary), Subotica (Serbia), Tampere (Finland), Veenendaal (Netherlands).
Twinning initiatives involve regular exchanges of official city representatives, short term attachments for employees of the town hall and city and community organizations. Mutual art exhibitions and concerts of orchestras and choirs are being organised. A number of return visits between several secondary schools has taken place, Scouting exchanges are popular as well.
The range of fields in which cooperation is taking place is wide - from culture, sports and environmental issues over health and social care to the librarianship, preservation of public order and business. Church leaders are in regular contact too. The cooperation also involves other parts of the community, such as firefighting and police forces.
